From the United Nations to rural communities to corporate boardrooms, water issues are on the agenda as never before. Water Stewardship goes beyond being an efficient water user. It means contributing to the responsible, sustainable management of freshwater resources.

We have set up a new Water Stewardship service to help businesses work together to deliver sustainable solutions for water.

The Water Stewardship service will enable businesses to work effectively with the 108 catchment partnerships to implement on-the-ground activities that contribute to the sustainability of both the water environment and the businesses involved.

Backed by WWF-UK, Coca-Cola GBCoca-Cola European Partners, M&S and Tesco, who are already working with catchment partnerships to drive change.

The service will provide a ‘one-stop-shop’ for businesses who want to be good water stewards, with the tools, knowledge and local expertise.

The Water Stewardship service will include:

Brokering – linking business to their local catchments groups and encouraging collaborative action.

Mapping supply chains – identifying opportunities for improvements in supply chains.

Solutions – identifying the best ways to address issues.

Practical action – providing targeted and tailored farm advice through trusted local advisers.

Monitoring & Reporting – providing regular reports on progress.

Staff/Community Engagement – providing opportunities for local volunteering / away days and media.

The project started in April 2017 and will run initially for 12months.
