The Catchment-Based Approach has been a catalyst for more inclusive and joined up management of the water environment. However, the need for such an approach is not specific to the UK.

There is increasing recognition of the need and benefits of greater stakeholder understanding and participation in managing the water environment across the EU and further afield. A commonly used phrase to describe this is “water co-governance”.

Water Co-Governance (WaterCoG) is an Interreg VB EU project aiming to share knowledge, develop and promote best practice approaches to water co-governance. There is a lot we can learn from each other about the tools and approaches we use.

Over time we hope to adapt the CaBA site to provide more transnational resources for improving water co-governance.
