The Severn Trent Environmental Protection Scheme (STEPS) is a grant programme run by Severn Trent as part of their ongoing commitment to protect the environment, biodiversity, soil and water, while supporting the productive sustainable use of these valuable resources.

Annual 50% matched funding grants of up to £5000 support farmers and landowners to invest in infrastructure and manage changes that help improve and protect the environment and watercourses within priority catchment regions. This funding initiative is part of the Farming 4 Water Catchment management programme and is solely funded by Severn Trent, though delivered in conjunction with local Wildlife and Rivers Trusts, the Woodland Trust, The Wye and Usk Foundation as well as South Staffordshire Water.

Successful grants have helped fund a wide range of projects from cover crops, to fencing, to pesticide wash down areas, and biofilters, as well as more innovative ideas developed by farmers themselves.
